Netherlands vs USA Match Preview

By Angela Asante, Mar 1st 2010
Ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the 32 participating nations stand the chance of testing themselves with friendly matches. March 3rd will present a great opportunity for teams to test their potential.

USA coach, Bob Bradley Among the several friendly fixtures that will take place on that day, the USA will be playing Holland at the Amsterdam ArenA at 14:30 Eastern Time.

The United States – Bob Bradley testing for the best World Cup roaster

On February 24th, a United States of America team mainly composed of home based players defeated El Salvador 2-1 in a crucial encounter in Florida.

It took a very late goal for Bob Bradley’s inexperienced side to clinch a victory. In the end, the manner in which they won certainly proved how intense the mental power of the team is.

On March 3rd though, it will be the turn of European-based players to make the most of their inclusion in Bob Bradley’s 20-man roster.

Actually, the coach’s selection is comprised of only three non-European based players – one of which is based in Mexico.

Commentating on his squad selection, Bob Bradley declared:

“This is a great opportunity for us to bring many of our European-based players together as we continue to finalize our plans for the World Cup roaster.

“This is the final match before we bring the team together for the World Cup. So, to have a match against one of the top teams in the world like the Netherlands is a big benefit and a good challenge for our group.

“They are expecting a large crowd to turn out for the game, and we are looking forward to an exciting atmosphere in Amsterdam.”

Surely, Holland will not only try to play good football like they often do. The most important thing for the Oranje will be to secure a victory as they look to find more confidence ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

Wednesday’s encounter will mark the fourth meeting between the USA and Holland in the history of soccer. Now there’s a boost there for the Dutch as previous statistics recall that they won all of their previous games against the United States of America.

Eight years ago, both teams clashed against each other in May as well. The match was a friendly ahead of the 2002 World Cup in Korea-Japan where the USA eventually reached the quarter-finals.

The Oranje were the happy side at the end of the ninety minutes, running away 2-0 victors.

Their last match against the Americans, played on February 18th, 2004, resulted in a victory again; 1-0 it was this time.

Extending their record against the USA to 4-0-0 will ease the pressure on the Dutch who are willing to send the 2010 World Cup trophy home.
